About this Unit

There are many end-of-life and palliative care options for people living with a disability, and support workers have a key role to play in supporting a client with a life limiting illness who wishes to die in their home. This training will provide support workers with knowledge and practical skills to provide support to a client with a life-limiting illness.

 

Our Program

We select our Premium Health trainers and assessors carefully, as such our training programs are only ever conducted by either a nurse or a paramedic. As a trusted health professional, they will teach the ‘why’ of your course and are committed to your learning.

  • The role of the support worker in supporting a participant with a life-limiting illness
  • The dying process
  • End of life planning
  • Considerations of other resident in a group home setting where a client is dying
  • The needs of a conscious and unconscious customer who is dying
  • Nutrition and fluid management
  • Elimination requirements
  • Pressure injury prevention
  • Infection control considerations
  • Oral care
  • Identifying and managing pain or distress
  • Immediate actions required upon the death of the participant
End Of Life And Palliative Care Training For Support Workers
Delivery ModeThe first option provides 2 hours and 45 minutes of live online training with a knowledge assessment. The second option offers 2 hours and 45 minutes of face-to-face training with a knowledge assessment.
QualificationsFor "End of Life and Palliative Care for Support Workers," you can choose between live online training with knowledge assessment or face-to-face training with knowledge assessment.
